Who I Am
My name is Xufeng (Bill) Hua. I write about wealth, decision making, and the quiet forces that compound over time.
I grew up in rural China in a large family where money was often tight. My parents were hardworking and entrepreneurial, but like many small business owners they experienced both successes and setbacks. Those early experiences shaped how I think about money, stability, and long term progress.
Early Lessons About Wealth
When I was nine, I began saving money to help pay for my own tuition. I did not fully understand financial planning at the time, but that habit taught me an important lesson early in life: small decisions made consistently over time can shape the direction of a life.
Years later, after building a career in finance in New York City and observing how wealth grows and disappears, that lesson still feels true.
The Seven Pillars of Wealth
Many people think of wealth only in financial terms. I have come to see wealth more broadly. It includes financial security, but it can also mean having control over your time, the energy to pursue work that matters, and the calm that comes from stability.
Over time I began organizing these ideas into a framework I call the Seven Pillars of Wealth:
- Pay Yourself First
- Prioritize Your Spending
- Power Your Savings
- Protect Your Savings
- Position Your Housing Wisely
- Prepare for the Future
- Propel Your Earning Power
What I Write About
This website is where I share essays exploring these ideas. Some essays focus on wealth and investing. Others explore decision making, negotiation, personal development, and the habits that shape long term outcomes.
My goal is simple: to understand how people build financial and emotional wealth over time.
